Patient route
If you are scheduled for surgery at the Bonanova Clinic, there are a series of steps that you must follow that day, from registering at reception and entering the pre-operative cubicle until leaving after surgery.
Below we explain this route in detail, including all the documentation that must be provided on the day of surgery. Also remember that it is essential you are accompanied by a responsible adult throughout the administrative and surgical process.
Registration at the reception
The reception staff will be in charge of welcoming you when you arrive at the Clinic to undergo surgery. You must bring the following documentation:
· ID Card or passport
· Authorization of the mutuality if you have one
· Doctor’s request with preoperative medication
· Preoperative tests if necessaryNext, you will go to the waiting room, where you will remain until your intervention.
To the preoperative cubicle
The auxiliary staff will check if you have correctly administered the medical regimen and will accompany you to the cubicle in the pre-surgical area. There, you will have to take off your clothes (only keep the underwear) and put on a disposable gown and shoe covers.
Next, the pre-anesthetic visit will proceed. Once the anesthesiologist has confirmed the performance of the intervention, the eye will be prepared for surgery.
Surgery
You will go to the operating room, where the surgical team will perform the intervention.
The immediate postoperative
Once the surgery is completed, the operating room attendant will transfer you to the postoperative area in a wheelchair. There, you will be received by the nursing staff from the postoperative area and you will be able to start drinking fluids. If you tolerate it well, you will be allowed to get dressed and the venipuncture will be removed.
Next, the nurse will call the reception to request that they accompany you from the post-surgical area to the reception.
Leaving the clinic
You can now leave the Bonanova Clinic facilities.
